HOW TO BUY ON AUCTION: BIDS

There are various ways to buy on auction
1. A bid in the auction room
If you are able to attend the auction you are required to register with your passport and bank references to obtain a bidding paddle
2. An absentee bid
If you are unable to attend the auction or unable to bid by telephone you can make absentee bids through our forms. You need to fill in your maximum bid (hammer price) taking in mind the buyer’s premium and author’s right if applicable. We will handle your bid as if you were attending the auction. This means that the actual hammer price can be lower than you maximum offer. Consequently lots will be bought for you at the lowest possible price in so far allowed by other bids and reserves.
Alternative bids can be made by writing “Or” between each lot number.
Absentee bids, when made by telephone, must be confirmed by e-mail, by fax or in writing.
We recommend using the printable bid form and sending it as soon as possible before the auction.
When making a bid the conditions of sale are accepted. Absentee bids and telephone bids can not be annulled and need to reach 24 hours before the auction us at the latest.
3. A telephone bid
You can register for telephone bidding. We will then call you several lots in advance on a telephone number of your choice during the auction.
You will be guided during the telephone bidding by a staff member of the auction house.

For absentee bids as well as for telephone bidding you can use the online bid form or myDeVuyst.
